Un día como hoy hace 40 años, en el laboratorio de Stanford en California Douglas Engelbart y William English,construyeron en madera de pino el primer rudimentario ratón(mouse) que fue llamado así por el cable que lo unía a las computadoras.
No ha cambiado mucho desde entonces cuando fue presentado en el Civic Auditorium de San Francisco durante la Conferencia de Otoño de Empresas de Informática. Le habían puesto como nombre oficial “X-Y Position Indicator for a Display System” (Indicador de Posición de X-Y para un Dispositivo de Pantalla), aunque el cable que lo conectaba a las PC y su tamaño de roedor le condenaron a llamarse ratón.
